Hi all. Yesterday I had another smear test. First was inconclusive because I bled too much as soon as she swabbed (like I knew I would!) well same thing happened again 🙄 she said it wasn’t as bad as last time but still a fair bit. I asked what happens if it comes back unclear again and she said I’ve one more go or I’ll have to go to the lab I think she said? Has anyone else had smears done another way? I’m praying it is ok but trying to prep myself incase! Thank you. Xx

Hello

Yes I've been told (by a colposcopy dr) that from now on due to the pain I get and that they've tried twice to do my latest smear but failed as my cervix bled on contact due to cervical ectropian (when the cells usually inside the cervix are found at the front where they swap). That from now on I'll be referred to the difficult smear clinic where its done in the colposcopy unit at the hospital. Its usually where you sent if you've had abnormal smears or something doesn't look right when doing the smear beacuse of that they have specialist chairs and things which help and also as they deal with wirh cervix day to day they are better equiped etc.

Maybe ask if you can be reffered to them if this one is also inconclusive?

I have no pain while she does it thankfully. Just bleed as soon as the swan makes contact :( I have heard about that way of doing it. If it comes back inconclusive I shall speak about maybe getting referred as I think there is a very good chance it would come back a third time. It’s just whether they decide to follow protocol!

Thank you for replying :) x
