I really hope you can help. I have a history of endometriosis and fibroids and since having a zoledex injection last year became peri-menopausal at 39. I was planning of having a partial hysterectomy (leaving my ovaries intact) next month but as i am 39 with no children the consultant advised another course of zoladex.
I'm very worried about all of this because the next course of zoladex may put me in permanent menopause so i'm unable to have children but if i have a partial hysterectomy the chances of having children diminish too. I've discussed freezing my eggs but wasn't given much information on this option.
Has anyone else been in this dilemma, i really don't don't know what to do

Sorry to hear you are going through the mill. Both options put you in a menopause state, but yes there is no point of return from a hysterectomy. What have they said about your chances of conception? If you want children, I would look to pursue that first if it is an option. When I had my ovaries removed and later a hysterectomy, I had allready had children so I did not have that difficult choice to make. If you do go down the partial hysterectomy route I definitely advise that over a full one. You don't need hrt then which can be a nightmare for some people like me. I am a bit confused though tbh, as with ovaries, you would still have oestrogen production, which is related to endometriosis, but obviously you would not have periods or fibroid issues. Would you still need zoladex? I think you need to discuss the having children issue with your consultant before you go any further. As hard as it may be, I think you need to know whether it is possible for you to pursue realistically, and if not, you can then decide what you want to do. I find it extremely worrying that your consultant has not fully discussed this with you. Did they ask of you had children or if you wanted them?
So sorry i thought i had replied to you, i typed an answer then it disappeared grrrrrr!!
Anyway thank you so much for replying, i am now booked for the AMH and FSH blood tests to give me a guide as to see where i stand as such.
No, i wouldn't need zoladex if i had a partial hysterectomy. I saw my consultant this week where i was all booked for a partial hysterectomy in July. Unfortunately or fortunately i saw a female Registrar and as we're a similar age was against me having the surgery so now back to square one again and being put back on zoladex soon. However, very worried as Zoladex gave me terrible problems including being admitted to hospital with hosepipe bleeding and fainting, even oramorph wouldn't take the pain away. I did tell this to the Registrar but she was more concerned about me becoming childless. It seems a no win situation at the moment.
Sorry for the rant just don't know which way to turn, other consultants did suggest the mirena coil but gosh just had over 20 years of all of this and really and really had enough x
