A little clarity please!!!!

Morning everyone!

I am writing this post to hopfully gain some clarity. I had a laparoscapy and excision of endo 3 days ago. My hospital discharge sheet reads "small spot of endometriosis near the UV-fold exicised". This is the only information I have about the condition that has affected my health and quality of life for 20 years. It has taken a long time to find it. Could the location (near uv fold) of my endometriosis be classed as deep/sever endo?

Thank you!

From what I understand the UV pouch is the dip that the thin sheet of tissue over the abdominal organs has between the bladder and the uterus. So it's saying you have a small amount of endo on the sheet of tissue between the two or overlying the two.

You'd have to talk to your specialist or arrange a follow up apt (if they haven't already got one booked in for 2 weeks time) then you can go through their findings.

I don't think it would be classed as deep or severe. But do bear in mind that different women react differently to different amounts of endo; some have lots of symptoms with a little endo and some have very few symptoms with a lot of endo so what you feel can vary and isn't dependent on how much there is. So even though you could have a small amount it can have a massive impact on how you've been feeling as you've found.

That's why it's an annoying thing to have!

Thank you for your reply. There seems to be a few different theories on how endometriosis is catagorised. There are the three types (based on the location), the 4 stages (based on the lesions) and other theories based on amount, depth etc. . .

I have an appointment with the specialist in a couple of months, I will be picking his brain.

The stages from what I understand is the American grading system, I asked on here as I was trying to find out what stage mine was, I think you can google the stages of endo.

MY specialist defined mine as severe endometriosis, and from doing the above I found it's similar to stage 4 but I'm just going with severe. It was on my bladder, uterus and bowel, also sticking all three together.

Yes I have noticed there's something in some categorisations to do with the number of adhesions.

On here I think we've just gone with where ours is, how much there is / was, whether it's caused organs to stick to each other and what our symptoms are

Ah right ok, yeah that makes sense! I am sorry to hear that your endometriosis was severe. I am counting myself lucky. I experienced severe symptoms from the age of 12 but it wasn't found untill Tuesday this week (21 years later). It could have been much worse and with it being exicised also. . .all I can say is "RESULT!!!"

Thank you farahziya for taking the time to respond it is greatly appreciated. I can only hope that your health has not suffered too much and you are able to go on with life with a smile.
