Just wondering how people got diagnosed . Where you diagnosed through nhs or have to go private?

I initially went to the doctors over 2 years ago and I was diagnosed the other day after I had a lap. He found endo on my womb and bladder. He said everything looks healthy now and shouldn't return for another 5-10 years. It was the nhs that diagnosised me. Do you have a diagnosis or are you waiting?

I am waiting for scan results and not sure yet where I will go from there.

I think the only way endometriosis can be officially diagnosed is by having a laparoscopy! I had mine last year, scans can't really tell much so I would push for a lap if you think it's endometriosis :)

Yes I will push for lap , my gp has been fantastic but the gyn he refered me to not so good even though he is bsge gyn . So thinking maybe private.

Yeah I ended up private and I eas diagnosed had an op and out within a month. Luckily I have private health care through work otherwise I still might not know because the NHS are still scanning me left right centre lol

NHS, but it took a long time to finally see a GP who thought I had it.

I agree, it's all about seeing the right person. I went from seeing a GP who told me (after repeated visits for bowel symptoms and period problems) that it wasn't endo because I didn't have the symptoms to seeing a second GP who said straight off that she was positive it was endo. The first gynae I saw also said it was definitely endo before he'd even done the lap. Not everyone in the medical profession is useless when it comes to the disease.

I was initially referred for kidney stone pain but turned out to be endometriosis. The general gynaecologist did MRI scan and referred me straight on to a BSGE credit surgeon. It is all private and pretty swiftly done.
