Hi everyone. I haven't been diagnosed with endometriosis but I'm worried I may have it as I have been getting a lot of symptoms of it: irregular bleeding, cramps, pain during sex etc. I also have a family history of endometriosis and abnormal smear results. I was wondering what people's first symptoms were that they noticed, and what is the process of being diagnosed or ruling it out?

Hi, first referral to a gynaecologist and discuss your symptoms. It does take a long time to get to diagnosis, which can only be done with laparoscopic surgery. The consultant I wpsaw tried to rule out other things fisrt, did ultra sound, tried Prostap Injections and finally did laparoscopic surgery. I had years of going back and forth to the GP before they would take notice of any of my sumptoms!

Best of luck to you,

Sarah
