Do you need to use protection whilst on zoladex?

Yes! It is really important you use non-hormonal protection during sex whilst on zoladex.. Here is some advice i was given before going on zoladex from another forum member...

What zoladex does to you it will also do to a baby, which is why it is vital you are not pregnant and don't fall pregnant while on the drug. You Especially don't want the baby's pituitary to stop mid development and cause deformed organs and bones or cause you to miscarry the pregnancy.

whether you last 1 month or all 6months you still need to practise safest sex all that time and for an extra 4months after that last dose goes in the body. Hormone birth control doesnot work at all, while on these drugs. you must use barriers like condoms and diaphragms and caps etc, and spermicidal lubrication too if you dohave sex because you vagina gets very dry and fragile when the natural moisturisation is stopped from working.

Oh my goodness. So glad I checked because my specialist said "you can't get pregnant whilst having this injection"!

No worries hun! I dont think the doctors really know much about the injections tbh haha! I had my second one last week and it was given by a different nurse than the first one and both said different things from one another, but the second nurse was pretty clear it wasnt safe to get pregnant or have unprotected sex whilst on this injection so yeah make sure you are extra extra careful!

Hope the zoladex works as well for u as it is for me so far! Im pain free for what feels like the first time in forever! The only side effects ive had so far are nausea, hot and cold flushes, and a few nights of insomnia, those symptoms are easy peasy to deal with compared to any of the pain or fatigue i had before! I had my second injection this week and honestly I feel like I am on cloud 9 compared to how I felt. I feel like I can have a life again! The side effects I have had sound similar to yours but also have had some acne and tiredness but all in all nothing really to complain about.

Yeah i had acne bad last week and a day where i just couldnt wake up. The only other symptom is that i seem to be really forgetful and a bit fuzzy headed but like i said I can deal with all these symptoms because i really do have my life back! I feel like i can be 22 for a while! It was so nice last friday because we went to a late night movie at the cinema which we could never do before because i was always far too tired by 9pm and i couldnt sit in those chairs for long because my back would hurt far too much!

Its great to hear some positive news about zoladex because before i decided to have the injections (i was basically told they were my only option or they wudnt treat me with anything else) all the feedback i got about them was really negative and made me petrified about what to expect!

My doc told me to use protection which we did for the 6 months of my injections,my last injection was in the July and ive got to say the Zoladex didn't help me at all but everyone is different... I did have a laparoscopy in the October after my last injection in the July then I got pregnant 2 weeks later and have a healthy happy 2 year old now...up until 3 months ago I was endo symptom free but unfortunately it's back and am waiting to see my consultant next week for further treatment...

Hello, I'm going on my 3rd injection of a 6 month course of zoldexa for endometriosis and I've had not safe sex my gyne never said anything to me I've been really nassuea and tired and my Boobs burn. I've toom 1 test about 1 or 2 weeks ago it was negative but in so sick I just need some advice.
