Endometriosis and coeliac disease

Just wondered if anyone has any information on the possible links between endo and coeliac? My mum has coeliac and I have severe endometriosis, awaiting hysterectomy. Thanks for any info

Possibly because Celiac disease is autoimmune and one of the theories I've read is that endometriosis is autoimmune too.

I have autoimmune diseases and now waiting on a lap in a few weeks to confirm what's causing my pelvic issues. I am completely intolerant of gluten as well!

hi I have endometriosis and I am coeliac I also don't have dairy . I have been better since not having both of them so it does help, my mum is coeliac as well but does not get the problems I do .

Thanks for the info. I think I'll get myself tested just to make sure. Doesn't hurt to cut down on the gluten anyway! My mum has no endo either.

Hiya. There isn't a direct link that I am aware of. However many ladies who cut out gluten see an improvement in their pain frequency or severity. The endo diet is an anti inflammatory diet. Try it and see if it improves your pain but if you want to get tested you need to be still ingesting gluten daily for it to be picked up ( blood test first which if postive would lead you to have an endoscopy where the coeliac society recommend that you have had gluten with each meal for the previous 6 weeks I think)

I'm the exact same as you, severe Endo and my mother is a coeliac but I've never even thought to ask if they were linked.
