So I have always had heavy periods, runs in the family, big clots and very painful, Doctor called it menagorea.
I also have been diagnosed years ago with IBS. In the last few months I have suddenly encountered pain during sex, which has never happened to me before. The pain is on the left side during sex, a deep pain and even when not having sex it is constantly uncomfortable. My partner and I are trying for a baby and being told I need an ultra sound as this might be endometriosis (dr even said 'or something worse' which scared me too!) has made me feel very low all of a sudden. I am also constantly exhausted. My family say it is not normal, I fall asleep in the middle of the day on weekends and when I get home from work have no energy and again I fall asleep. Does this sound like endometriosis? If it is, does anyone know how much it affects fertility chances? I am nearly 35 and know that my chances are already slimmer than if I had tried for a baby at a younger age. I do hope someone can help me here. Thanks for reading. x

An ultrasound won't give you a diagnosis but can rule out other stuff the only way to get a definative diagnosis is via a laparoscopy.
My pain started on my left during ovulation and when they took a look my left ovary was stuck to my pelvic wall! I can only guess that you maybe have a cyst (which will show on ultrasound) that's causing your pain if it is and it's a chocolate cyst that would indicate endo and if it ruptures that then causes adhesions and scaring inside which in turn causes more pain! But as long as your tubes or one tube is ok there's no reason why you couldn't go on to have a child/children.
It does sound like endo and maybe even a Vitamin D deficiency. I had a vitamin deficiency and had the same issues with fatigue when I first got diagnose with endo so just putting that out there as a possibility. An ultrasound would be able to rule out at least ovarian cancer but you would have to go through Laproscopic to diagnose endo.
I also get the one sided pain with sex, mostly during ovulation up until my period comes, it is like a sharp stabbing pain. And I even get crampy after so it has made things frustrating for me and my husband because he is always scared he is going to hurt me.
Thank you guys so much for your replies, it means a lot. I've been so worried an low yesterday. (Went to get my nails done to cheer myself up and I never do that!)
My partner doesn't seem to understand very well why i am so upset. Good to hear that babies can happen Yazza. I'm happy for you and keep hopeful myself thanks to your comment.
So Chelsea where do you get vitamin D from? I don't understand why this would cause a lack. But it could explain my tiredness. I've even had to go down to working 3 days a week because of it.
My plan is to try not to think about it until I have the hospital tests. There's no point making myself miserable before I know the outlook and facts. I do hope it's just benign cysts of course.
How do you guys cope with being diagnosed with this? Any tips? Were your partners and families supportive or did you keep it to yourselves?
Thank you both again for your replies, it has helped me a lot.
