Endometriosis is found outside of the uterus. Most commonly the ovaries. Endometriosis is made up of the cells that make up the lining of the uterus. (Endometrium)
Adenomyosis is found inside the muscular wall of the uterus. The cells that make up the lining of the uterus, penetrate through to the muscle wall of the uterus. Adenomyosis comes in two forms, FOCAL where there is only one are of the muscular wall affected. And DIFUSE.. Where all of the muscular wall of the uterus is affected.
Both conditions can cause pain, heavy bleeding and infertility.
