Just wondering, how many of us have had a laparotomy (ie open rather than keyhole surgery)? I've had 2 surgeries, both laparotomies :/

Hello.

I've had five laparoscopies and one laparotomy.

The laparotomy started out at being a lap but they discovered a 9cm + chocolate cyst and had to progress to a laparotomy to remove the cyst.

Hi, thanks for your response. My second one was like that - they did two incisions for the laparoscopy and then converted to laparotomy (my consultant said beforehand that it was 50:50 what the surgery would end up being - because I'd had a laparotomy before and the scar tissue from that might mean it wasn't possible to do keyhole. Didn't they know you had an endometrioma before they operated? 9cm is big! I had four when I had my first surgery but they'd done ultrasound and MRI so knew how big and where they were x
