my daughter of 14 has endo which was found 1 year ago having her appendix out. they say young girls don't get it well this is not true.

she suffers very badly with this and has a lot of time off of school. she is going in for a lapo in12 weeks so I hope this will help her. if any one out there who daughter suffers with bad tummy pain please believe them as it could be endo.

I am so sorry for her but the majority of endo cases start from around 12-14 years old. Whoever told you that needs to learn about this disease. The doctors do say that a lot because by the time the poor girl has been diagnosed in most cases she is then around 20-30 because usually it takes years for these doctors to realise whT it is. X

Hi. You are so right; it is rubbish when they say young girls don't get endo. It is a blessing in a way though that your daughter had to have her appendix out and it was discovered, otherwise it would probably have taken years of her suffering before it was diagnosed. Why has it taken a year though for her to be given a lap? I had really bad periods from the start and was put on the pill at 15 which did help me a bit but I was only diagnosed with Endo at the grand old age of 46 after years and years of period problems and pelvic pain! I have 3 daughters; one is on the pill so doesn't have any problems as such at the moment she says, one is a Mum of one and is not on the pill (disagrees with her) and occasionally has quite painful and heavyish periods but insists she is ok and can manage, the other daughter hasn't started her periods yet (she is only 12). I try and keep a close eye on all 3 of them because I don't want them to go through what I went through (and still am!) and if I think for one minute that any of them exhibit any endo symptoms I will march them to the doctors myself if I have to whether they like it or not and insist they are taken seriously given that Endo is often genetically inherited. I hope your daughter's lap goes well. Please tell her not to be scared; there is nothing to having one done and at least she will be able to avoid years of undiagnosed pain, debilitating bleeding, unnecessary treatments and medications for other incorrectly suspected conditions and she will get the correct treatment from the start. So true. More than Half of us had endo symptoms from the first signs of having periods.

There was a recent poll asking us to stte when we first had symptoms. Check out the Polls section of this forum.

We were just fobbed off or not believed that there was anything wrong. and that goes on for years and years until its far too late and far too much damage has been done to ever get put right.

Hi I had it from 11 the lap is best way forward as I kept ignoring mine thinking I was invinsible now at 29 I think I wish there was a cure! Big hugs as my daughter who is 8! Is now being tested as a blood test confirmed early puberty lots of pains that cant be counted for peadatrics are now working to see if it is this horrible dreaded endo. Big hugs its a journey thats for sure but a journey where your daughter will need you x

Hi! Both my daughters were diagnosed with endo at 14! My eldest is 18 now and has had the merina coil fitted this week. We're hoping this works for her as her body has been rejecting other treatments/medication! My youngest nearly 16 is being managed by the combined pill. The severity of their endo is completelt different. I hope your daughter gets treatment soon and is feeling better soon. X
