Has anyone had the prostap injection in their leg and a week later is very sore and a hard swelling has occurred where the injection was?

It's not uncommon to have a bruising appear and also for the injection to nik a vein and cause some gushing bleeding either shooting out the injection hole or it is contained inside you. It will take time to dissipate. My injections were zoladex in the tummy - but the old injection sites were always still visible the next time I was due for another- so it was quite easy to work out which side of the tummy the previous one was in.
You should be alternating thighs or alternating sides of tummy for these things.
The implant itself might still be something you can feel if it wasn't put in deep enough.
Definitely not a good idea to rub or itch the injection sites however irritating and stinging they might be as that encourages more bruising and internal bleeding too.
It may be that the wound has become infected - so might be worth asking your surgery nurse to take a look if you are really worried about it, but my guess is that it is simply a small lump of bleeding that happened when the injection went in and that should get reabsorbed by the body in the fullness of time.
I've had zolly Before in my tummy also and never hAd a problem. This hard swelling is about a fist size and has only just come up, I had the injection last Friday :/ xxxx
If as big as that, get to A&E and let the docs take a look at it. Might be a DVT blood clot that urgently needs attention and meds. Hope not obviously - but definitely get to a hosp and let them assess you just in case.
