Only thing stated was a 9cm x9cm x 7.6cm cyst on right overy

No follow up or anything

Should I be worried? Would they have said if it was suspicious in anyway? Panicking!!

Definitely ask your Gp for the consultant's report. That seems a sizeable cyst and must be causing a lot of pain..I have always been told that if it is more than 5cm,the cyst needs removed if it doesn't shrink. Some cysts are hormonally controlled and do fill up ,then shrink over the month.I would think that unless they are totally sure it is benign,a laparoscopy and removal of cyst would be done or draining?Definitely get back to your Gp and get some followup.Dolet us know how you get on.Best wishes.

I have. Copy of the report and that all that's mentioned on there is that size. Doesn't say anything elce. I've been back to gp, he has requested the gyno see me to see what they are going to do. I asked if it was dangerous he said no. He did say if anything suspicious was suspected they would have documented it on the report. He said women get them all the time and they do get big. I'm panicking about cancer, but evwryone is saying that would have been detected by abnormalities within the cyst via the ultrasound! As I suffer with anxiety you can see how this is destresing to me

Thanks for your reply

While your referral is taking place you can ask your GP to run a CA125 blood test with is a test that indicates whether there is a high risk of ovarian cancer. Having the results of that might ease your mind or might speed up your referral.

I would persist to get it checked out fully as I had similar experience and was fobbed off. Eventually I had to have emergency surgery as the cyst was the size of a grapefruit and caused me a lot of problems. x

I would get it checked it out hun or you will end collapsing like me and the cyst causing more damage then if they just removed it when they first saw it! Mine was 15cm, it wrapped itself around my Fallopian tube and caused my appendix to rupture!! I lost my tube too. Xx

Thanks everyone! Just was really wondering if it would have been noticed if it was suspicious!! My report from ultra sound just stated a cyst with a few internal echos, can they tell the difference between a normal cyst and a suspicious one?! I do think they were just going to see how I went, my dr has written to them stating suspicion of overy cancer! They are seeing me Wednesday, and I had blood test today although I read it's not reliable as it can be elevated by loads of other things!! I'm so confused right now! I Also read it's rare in under 40s I'm 32 ... Don't know what to think, maybe I shouldn't be goggling things!! X

My understanding is that they refer more urgently when the cyst has no echos in it as that can indicate more abnormality. Really think yours sounds normal but obstructive but I am not a dr. A CA 125 would put your mind at rest.
