Had a laporoscopy on 1st July. No period since 9th June. Is this normal? I have very tender breasts but that is the only period symptom.

Hey i had lap op exact same time and i havent had a normal period either. Ive had awful cramps and pains sore breats but no period. I have had what i thought was the start of it but sorry if to much info but it was dark dark brown near black but it was only a wee bit when i went to toilet then disappeared as quick as it came. I mentioned it to my doctor but wasnt given an answer but have posted on her few weeks back about it and was told it can take a few mnths for your body to go back into balance xx

Thank you for replying. I'm just worrying cause I had endometriosis removed and a dye test and was told I was ovulating. Then nothing since nearly a month before my op. I keep getting slight pains like it might happen but nothing. It's so frustrating they don't give you any answers.

Sure is. I was told at time of op the i had a lot removed was all over my bladder etc which explain my constant peeing a bit. Luckily my tubes were clear and he said my ovaries looked clear as well but ive had no answers from doctors as yet about my period. I had doctors tomorrow but also have gyno/surgeon follow up appointment on the 18th sept so will ask him if my doc doesnt answer me. I was told if i want kids though i need to act quickly start trying once im recovered from op xx

Any kind of surgery can knock your system completely out of line, and gynae surgery is almost certain to. The doctors can't give you answers because it affects everybody differently - some women might only notice a slight change and other women can be period free or out of a 'normal' rhythm for months. And you may also find that your cycle has been changed.

If you're that worried about it they can probably test your hormone levels to see what's going on. But six weeks post op is still early :)

My doc has ignored my question all together ive only had answers from here about it. I had spoken to someone on here they said its took near 6mnths before she was back to normal cycle. Seems to be a waiting game when it comes to it

Yeah it's just they never mentioned it beforehand it's just weird to not have it. And then you worry because they say you've got one healthy working ovary. Then nothing happens after the op. My GP is never available I've been at my docs 3 years and never met him. I understand everyone is different but I can't even get in to get reassurance that that's the case. And they haven't even bothered to follow up from the op. I know it's probably just gonna take time but it would be nice to hear it from a doctor. It's good to know I'm not the only person that it's happening to loads of people so probably just needs time. Thanks for replying. Xx

I had lap in October and had my right ovary and tube removed, Didn't have a period until the January. I didn't have a follow up letter, and was signed back to my GP by letter 2 weeks later. Today I have been for a scan and I now have a fibroid. I have had complications since my op and pain and have had to keep going to my doctors as was told to let things settle down. If you are not happy with how you are feeling make sure you tell your doctor.
