Sleep disorders and remedies

I came across this research on sleep disorders and things you can do and things to avoid to help with sleeplessness - which is a frequent side effect of encephalitis.

I often lie awake till 3am and then sleep till noon even with exercise. Pills don't work and are pretty ill-advised for long-term use. I'll try some of these measures and see if they help. Thankfully cold showers in the morning are most beneficial to those under 60 years old. :-)

I’m the opposite to you. I go straight to sleep usually but then wake up a lot and often for a couple of hours. A good night’s sleep is a rare and lovely thing. I’m working my way through this report. Like you so relieved cold showers are for the under 60s! But I got to the bit where he wakes up at 4.30 and does his exercises and switched off a bit. I will read more though! Thanks.

Cheers, my pain relief morphine helps me sleep but brings very vivid and detailed dreams. The dream people seem to acknowledge me but we can't communicate. However opiates do cause poo difficulties.

sorry for delay. Had an eye op in between. Just for the fun of something different. 😄. I think I’ll stick to lack of sleep and skip the weird dream/poo issues! Seriously none of this is fun. But like we always say, this forum where people understand really helps.
