Sleep helps with brain recovery

Medical News Today usually has updates on latest research. Here's one on the benefits of sleep for repairing neurons. medicalnewstoday.com/articl...?

"One of the main functions of the human brain is to create memories.

A number of lifestyle factors can help improve a person’s ability to create memories, including proper sleep.

Researchers from Cornell University have found that during sleep the hippocampus region of the brain goes ‘silent,’ allowing neurons to ‘reset’ so they can help create new memories the next day, via a mouse model."

If you read the whole article you may find it useful.

Thanks Gandalf - I’ll share that, too, as it’s genuinely really interesting .

Sleep is one of the things that I still struggle a bit with but it has slowly improved unless I have stress. It definitely makes a difference. I’m having a look for the article. Thanks.

Hi Wygella, thank you for your reply. I'm sorry to hear about your sleep issues, sometimes all we can do is rest and hope sleep will come.

I have been out of action for quite a while with repeated hospital admissions and intravenous treatment using penicillin to deal with mystery infections. It's all part of my autoimmune deficiency, which it seems is here to stay. Hospital stays are pretty awful with noise, too much light, no water, lazy staff and indifferent food. I can't smell or taste yet so the food is pretty useless. Great to get back home.

My sleep is pretty good and I can have 2-3hr naps through the day. It all seems to aid recovery in slight steps. My medication includes tablets for anxiety and panic attacks plus morphine for my spine injuries. These may help to quieten my mind and aid sleep.

As you know I built an orgone accumulator after reading about them and their supposed healing properties. I haven't used it at all over the past year. But I sat in it for 30 minutes yesterday evening and slept for about 15 hrs today, waking up a short while ago with a slight headache. I wonder if it has done anything. I've decided to keep trying it for a while and see what happens. I'm a sort of lab rat I guess!

We're all at sea with no navigator but hopefully heading in the right direction.

Best Wishes, G2

Hi Gandalf. So sorry to hear of all that’s been happening to you. Hospital stays are awful! You did say when you first built your accumulator that it helped so I really hope it helps now. My sleep is just erratic now as opposed to most nights being awake so it has improved but as I say anxiety or stress throw it out. But I seem to survive well! Take care. Good luck.
