NMDA Encephalitis and Contraception/Hormones

Hi there,

I had Anti NMDAR Encephalitis first when I was 21 and again when I was 23. I was advised by my doctor to stop taking hormonal contraception (pill) when I first became sick as he said the hormones may cause a relapse.

However, due to other health concerns such as PCOS, I am being offered the Mirena coil with minimal hormones.

Can I ask about your experience with this and have you found hormones to interact with your encephalitis?

Thanks,

No periods for over 20 years then endometriosis after flooding for a few months. No pregnancy in this time or regular sexual activity. Overloaded information yes but real life. Had surgery for ovarian cysts
