The eGFR number mean my eGFR is 74?

It was 59 in March so if that’s what it is now....happy days!!

Your hemoglobin and hematocrit are too high, especially for a female. You may have hemochromatosis, which is "iron overload" or "iron storage disease." You really need to be investigated for this because it can cause devastating damage to your internal organs, especially the liver. It could explain many of your symptoms, though it would not explain the kidney stone issue.

Hello,This would not be the best forum for having blood tests results analysed. Best ask your PCP. The hematocrit is in the normal range for this lab, so don’t worry about it. Sometimes hemoglobin is high due to the body’s need to transport more oxygen, like if you are at high altitude or smoking. In this case, you are so close to normal it could just be an artifact of the test—all tests have a margin of error. Look at the test history for a better idea. The eGFR is rather normal (I wish I had that number.), so why worry? They just indicated which formula was used to calculate it. There are a few, and each one gives a different result.

Hi Pdbird,

Welcome to our community filled with caring, supportive people who share varied experiences.

I can understand your concerns and confusion with your labs, but unfortunately others here can tell you what they think, but they are not your doctor.

The best bet to find out EXACTLY what your lab results in regard to your personal health is to make an appointment with the ordering doctor to review them.

I would look over and check off any test results which flag high or low next to the ranges from the lab, jot down questions and ask for answers, this way you are not in doubt when you leave.

Bear in mind, your doctor is the one who is treating your case, knows your personal and family history and your overall health issues.

He/ she possesses the education and experience to explain to you precisely what your labs mean and address any concerns that you may have in regard to you.

We can support you, but your doctor should be your first line of communication.

Things will all work out for you, I promise. Give him/ her a call, sit down with them and have a chat. You will feel much better after.

Please reach out and let us know what is said and what he/ she plans to do to address areas of your health. We will always reach back.

Waiting to hear.

Bet
