Starting PD dialysis

Can anyone tell me what to expect with PD dialysis?

I am close to starting dialysis. Does your hair fall out and does your skin blister?

I too started my renal journey using PD dialysis and it worked really well for me. OK, it takes a bit of getting used to, but I had fantastic support from PD nurses and renal team who reassured me every step of the way. We are all different, however I found that my hair did not fall out and I didn’t suffer from any skin conditions. After a month I went back to my full time job, did a bag change at lunchtime. I went on holiday and generally life went back to ‘normal’. I’m not on PD now, but still find this forum a huge help along with groups like Kidney Care on FB. I hope all goes well xx

Hair loss has never resulted for me and blistering skin? Don't know how your skin would blister secondary to peritoneal dialysis. Your symptoms if you have them may be related to something else. Check with your physician for further guidance. That being said, having CKD you are low in those nutrients/vitamins etc.that assist in healthy hair and nails. Your nephrologist can guide you in regard to supplements such as Nephro-Vite and Biotin.
