Hi BlindaSu and thank you for your post. I am sorry, but I am only able to see "Does anyone in stage 3a experience back pain which can be very uncomfortable?" I saw that you had posted more than this, but I am now unable to see this on the screen. In kidney disease stages 3 to 4 back pain is usually felt as a dull ache anywhere in the mid to lower portion of the back and can be felt on either side. There are many possible causes for this. Investigations will try to establish the cause of pain. X-rays will detect kidney stones and a urine sample will be sent to the laboratory for culture tests to see if infection is present. Please see your doctor so that the cause of the pain can be established and treated. The types of treatment that may be effective vary from person to person. It is also possible for you to seek advice from a doctor who specialises in pain control. This sounds uncomfortable for you and I hope that you will soon be feeling better.

Are any other members able to help BlindaSu, please?

Thank you and best wishes.

MAS Nurse, First of all Thank you for your kindness and reaching out to me to see if the Community is responding. I think in this Community we have lots of Chiefs and no Indians and very little listening and compassion! WOW I thought you would surely find it here? I guess I was wrong. Thanks so very much for your help, Belinda

There was only a few posts on back pain. Maybe it is not that common? Your kidneys can effect several things. Maybe depends on what other conditions one has . You might get more replies on another kidney related issue.

Hi, Back Pain not common with stage 3B CKF the sites medical sites to be exact such as John Hopkins and Mayo Clinic etc. says that flank/back pain is on of the most common symptoms. You need not have any other health problem. Just my opinion in this Community.

I would give your doctor a call. It could be muscular, or as a result of taking a statin if you are doing so.

Thanks for sharing the information you found and the sources. Will be more watchful of the flank pain.

Being 79 years old can be the root of back pain, with or without CKD See Ecclesiastes 12 where "old age" is described. On point.

Yes, even if we exercise and especially if we don't.

Agape, friend.

I am age 78 and was diagnosed at age 75, at level 3b. My age also might be a consideration for back pain or a combination of factors.

Thanks for sharing. Agape
