only fizzy orange Lucozade, but then when I drink too much of this my IBS plays up, but it stops me feeling so thirsty. Just can't win.
I have 43%kidney failure and don't know what to take for the better.

Try freezing some natural fruit juice in ice trays it will give you taste in your mouth whilst it dissolves as well as not over doing anything you body struggles with too much of. The flavours in the juice as it melts will stimulate the saliva glands and fool your system into thinking it has had a drink as well as masking that taste in your mouth.
Watch the salt foods your eating , things like processed foods are all high in salt along with most take away foods. Reduce the salt you add to food , reduce things like sausages bacon , hams and any other cured meats .
Have you had your thyroid checked lately? Before I started treatment for hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), my main symptom was constant thirst. I had this for months, even years, before the problem was diagnosed! I never went out without an 'emergency drink' in my bag!
I still have the problem to a lesser degree, and find the best drinks are either tea (no sugar) or sparkling water (for some reason, this is much more effective than still water)
Hi I'm a ckd3 and get the same ,I drink water with a hint of fruit ,that works for me ,sell it everywhere ,I chew gum ,also cut out the salt ,I do back to basic ,try making everything fresh not processed .
How much salt are you taking in? I have gained some kidney function over a year by not adding any salt to my cooking, I've stopped eating any foods or snacks with added salt. Now I'm less thirsty! Adding ice to drinks like elderflower cordial are very refreshing and herb teas. Fizzy drinks contain potassium which you want to avoid.
Try elderflower cordial with sparkling water for a very refreshing drink.
I'll try the Health shop for the elderberry drink..thank you for replying
