Need to do more than control Creatinine levels?

As I understand it, high levels of creatinine indicates poor kidney function, therefore if I can lower my creatinine level by some other action or change of diet etc, the poor kidney function would still be present and would continue to decline and eventually dialysis would be needed? Am i correct? So reducing creatinine in the blood is important for a healthy body but the poor kidney function needs to addressed by other means? I'm a 72 male with GFR of 45 and creatinine level of 134 umol/L b which seems to be getting worse, I have essential hypertension inherited from my father, it's been high most of my life, though partially controlled by meds.

Balancing your creatinine is the job for a renal dr, so if you have not already been referred to one by your GP, then do go and ask. Meanwhile try the Kidney UK Care FB group which is excellent and offers lots of tips and advice. I wish you well.
