Green tea and Nettle leaf tea

Stage 2 CKD,

First off, is green tea and nettle leaf tea safe to drink? I usually alternate between the 2 and drink one cup every other day. Also, does anyone else drink either of these and seen any improvements in your kidney function?

I drink nettle tea every day. I also take supplements. I’m stage 5 but started at stage 5 , 3 years ago so , I believe it does help. My doctor says I’ve done better than most. Hope this helps!

Hi ReidB, I've always found it best to check with my renal dr before drinking any herbal tea and definitely before taking any supplements bought over the counter. I was given the OK to drink green tea (sorry I don't know about nettle tea) and any supplements I need are given on prescription by the hospital. I wish you well xx

I support Kate-L's advice, that it is always best to check with your nephrologist if you are or want to take herbal supplements, tea etc. Some interact with your kidney medication and may not be safe to use. So it is best to check with them first.

I don't take any medication for my kidneys at the moment. I don't take any meds period, I use to take pain meds for my back and was told to stop, but my kidney doc has yet to put me on any medications.
