Swollen ankles
In a word, No! There are many other and varied reasons for swollen ankles, including heart problems, fluid retention and even as a side effect of medication.
I've had swollen ankles and feet for over 10 years and just got diagnosed in August at stage 3b. Maybe my kidneys were not at optimum all this time as swelling does relate to kidney function.
I had a kidney transplant 19+ years ago with great kidney function now. I am on a daily Lasix (water pill). I take it due to some mild heart issues. If I travel on an airplane, I get swollen ankles. If we go out to eat at a restaurant, I get swollen ankles due to their use of salt in cooking. If we travel to a warm humid place, I also get swollen ankles.
I guess my point is there are a lot of things in our world that can cause edema, and not always is it caused by poor functioning kidneys.

I've had swollen ankles for the past two years. Two nephrologists and one doctor confirmed it was not caused by CKF since I am only 3a. They do believe the swelling is from diastolic dysfunction, although the swelling has decreased significantly since going on a 2,000 mg. sodium diet.
Trying to walk about 10 k each day and they seem to be going down π
