I already take the max dose of Enalapril and a 200 mg dose of a beta blocker and yet my BP still skyrockets at night. However, during the day it is not near as high. AND then super late at night it plummets to below normal. I have already tried changing the time of day I take my meds. In fact, I've tried several different methods. None of them seem to matter. I've also been counting calories and working out daily. I've lost 18 lbs and look much better. But I still feel just plain awful. Here's an average from this weeks BP's. You can see they are all over the place and tend to follow the exact same pattern every day. I wore an ambulatory monitor from my doctor.
between the hours of 2pm and 10pm my average BP was 144/78. From 10pm till 4 am my average BP was 177/88. With a high reading of 207/85 at 3 am. Then at 5 am my BP was 100/64??? Very strange. And as you can see my top number is typically much higher then my bottom.

Also, is it unusual to have an elevated creatinine and all other test be normal?? I was reading an article on Medscape that said that in CKD the creatinine and BUN levels would always elevate together. Even if all other test were normal. Not sure if my BUN was tested but all my other kidney test were within normal ranges.
Have you undergone a 24 hour BP test? Also there are other classes of drugs that might be able to be used. Have you seen a cardiologist?
I'd insist on trying a different medication or combination thereof. What did the doctor recommend after receiving the ambulatory monitor results?
The 'top' number should always be higher than the 'bottom' number. I've had labs where it seemed everything was within normal ranges except creatinine. Sometimes my parathyroid is high, sometimes normal, sometimes BUN is out of range , sometimes within range. I've also had BUN/creatinine levels w/in range and creatinine at 1.8. Everyone is different.
Thanks Crinkster. My doctor has not received the device back yet. So no report yet. And yes, I understand systolic is always higher then diastolic. What I meant is my Systolic is typically elevated, sometimes extremely elevated while my diastolic usually run normal to high normal. It's not unusual for me to have a BP reading of 180/75. I also feel just horrible when my BP is up. People always say it's a silent disease, but not at all for me. I can always tell someone what my blood pressure is going to be even before I take it. And usually I'm within just a few points of the actual reading. And like I mentioned earlier it always occurs at night between the hours of like 10pm till early morning. I'll go from a BP of like 130/65 to 205/90 in a split second. And then I just settle in for a horrible night cause I know it's not gonna budge. And then BAM, at 5 am it falls all the way to like 110/60 and I feel great.
