I had an ultrasound because my numbers were off. Mine showed a kidney wasn’t draining properly and was swollen. I thought I saw what was the description of a kidney stone. They said no kidney stone seen. Ended up I had a kidney stone, then it dropped. I now have a stint which helps kidney drain better. Back to kidney doctor in 2 months.

Could depend on type of kidney disease and reason for disease. I have a clear ultrasound, but have IGA Nephropathy CKD found doing a biopsy.

A kidney ultrasound may be used to assess the size, location, and shape of the kidneys and related structures, such as the ureters and bladder. Ultrasound can detect cysts, tumors, abscesses, obstructions, fluid collection, and infection within or around the kidneys.- per John Hopkins Medicine

Blood tests. Kidney function tests look for the level of waste products, such as creatinine and urea, in your blood. Urine tests. Analyzing a sample of your urine may reveal abnormalities that point to chronic kidney failure and help identify the cause of chronic kidney disease. Per Mayo Clinic

Biopsy help determine type of kidney disease for certain types of kidney disease:

Specific reasons to do a kidney biopsy include:

Blood in the urine (hematuria) or protein in the urine (proteinuria)

Abnormal blood test results

Acute or chronic kidney disease with no clear cause

Nephrotic syndrome and glomerular disease (which happens when the filtering units of the kidney are damaged) per kidney.org/atoz/content/kid...

My ultrasound was fine but ckd stage 3. I think mine was caused by NSAIDS.

Fell off the wagon for a few days. Sweet tooth. No serious issues yet. But I do realize the need to get back to business. The trick is to keep the junk out of the house. Sigh... Hope everyone here is too smart to buy junky snacks. Cheers !

Don't knock yourself down too much newbie1956. I too have struggled this holiday season with eating/drinking things that are not ideal. I just pick myself back up again & start over. I recognize that this time of year can be especially heart wrenching for some folks. My mom's first anniversary since she passed is coming up soon and I can feel my emotions heightening. For me, eating foods like (low sodium) chips or a square of chocolate is comfort food & provides a bit of solace. Wishing everyone a healthy new year celebration and year ahead that fits in nicely with your own personal goals or dreams. Warm hugs!

Thanks, soozer ...wish all i ate this week was a square of chocolate. Fortunately, low sodium rice cakes do come in all flavors : ) and plain popcorn is a fave. Coffee makes oatmeal cookies a real treat...I'm smitten !!!
