Only a health care professional can tell you what is a good reading for you. Part of the interpretation is based on your age. As far as I know, your blood pressure is just a little higher than what may be best or you. There is also a great deal of information available on the Internet. It's good that you are concerned about your blood pressure as it relates to kidney function.

Thank you for your reply , the reason I asked was that My Dr. thinks it's ok, I took a 3 week reading of my b/pressure to him, and he said if it gets any higher then go back. I was taking Ramipril and Bisoprolol he took me off Bisoprolol because my b/pressure was too low, so I am only taking Ramipril

The reason I asked is that I seem to think that with kidney disease my blood pressure should be lower in the 130s ,? My GP said it would be in an ideal world.

Mine wants me to keep in 120s/ 70s. I try to but sometimes it goes up. All you can do is your best! Prayers for you. God can do anything!

Thank you for your reply, when I was taking the bisoprolol my systolic rate was perfect in the 120s however my diastolic was far too low in the 40s/50s and making me too dizzy, it's so difficult getting the right combination of blood pressure tablets.

that sounds ok i rhink your gp is right in an ideal world my husband atruggled to keep his below 130/ 80 to 70 & he took 3 different bp pills at high doses they in turn can cause damage so the less you can get away with the better! sometimes it depends on the time of day too when my hubby has it taken in the morning he has a good reading when taken later on its something like 170/100 for this reason the cardio consultant said he will leave his drugs as they are as if it drops too low in a morning he will feel like fainting! its a very difficult task do you take your own bp? x

Hi phillen

It would be nice not to have to take another pill, and just stay on the Ramipril and I did feel very lethargic and dizzy on the Bisioprolol, Like your husband, after taking my tablet in the morning the b/pressure is fine, but it does creep up towards the end of the day. Yes I do take my own B/pressure, and take the readings with me when I see the Dr, and he records it on my files.

Sounds like your gp is quite good you may find you feel awful in the mornings if they increase your pills my hubby used to take ramapril for many years but became allergic to it he takes candesartan & Bisporolol the candesartan has been increased 3 times so far this year but makes no difference! Its a balancing act isnt it? x

it's strange that I had been taking bisoprolol for several years, then all of a sudden they were lowering my B/pressure too much, I have tried so many different tablets in the past but at the moment Ramipril seems ok, but who know's ? I have also been on long term Prednisolone [ steroids ] so they haven't helped with the b/pressure, like you say it's a balancing act.

If you have SLE ? Micophenolate etc. instead of Prednisolone ??

Hi,

I've been told I have to try and keep my BP at 125/75 but this is due to very high Protenuria. (protien leak) Cant afford to put too much pressure on some dodgy old capillaries.

My Nephrologist is fixated on Candasartin for this. Hate the stuff.

Luckily I don't have a problem with protein.

I have never been referred to a nephrologist [ I'm at stage 3 eGFR of 38 ] My Dr, said he would only refer me if I got to stage 4. I usually have a slightly raised creatinine last test is was 113,

hello

I have seen several Dr's in the past but they all say the same, "that as I have been at stage 3 for several years and stable at around an EGFR of 38/40 "they won't refer me", I have had kidney x/rays, all ok there. I also have regular blood tests,

I live in a small village and lucky to have a surgery a few minutes walk away, so getting rid of my Dr. would mean travelling miles away, and no doubt I would get the same response,
