I imagine it varies as it effects us all differently.

I'm egfr 13 and not yet on dyalisis.

Have been told it's likely at 6 or 7.

It would be interesting to hear what others have experienced.

when you reach a GFR of 10 they will start prepping you for dialysis, but I will share with you that I had a GFR of 27 15 months ago with just one kidney because of Cancer in my other kidney and had it removed. they told me that my GFR would continue to drop and to expect to be on dialysis within two years. I asked them if there was anyway to increase my GFR and they responded by saying it was not possible. so I did some research and decided to drastically change my diet and began to drink large amounts of water and I am happy to say that it has increased steadily and have been at a GFR of 41 for the last five months.

It depends how ill you are feeling! my hubby was down to 6% by the time he started but a lot of people are earlier than that! they talk about your options & help prepare you normally from about 16%!

Thank you all very much for your replies. Much appreciated.
