statins?

hi to one and all just a quick question my consultant as put me on statins,as well as bp meds and others tablets any body else on statins thanks kidney at 16 now so heading towards stage 5

Hi there I've been on Statins off and on since last November 2012, despite normal readings of cholesterol. However the Simvastastins 40mg they put me on in November caused terrible leg cramps for me, so I rested from them (as advised by my GP at the time for a few weeks), then my GP changed me to Pravastatin 40MG, no probs with cramps now, and everyone is different too. I too have been on BP meds since 2002. I was only diagnosed with CKD stage 3 in Feb of this year. Good luck and hope your able to get the numbers back, it has been done.

thanks for that ,yea the stimvatin is 20 mg to be taken at nigt,anf my right leg aches all the time since i stared thismedication

Hi, I am CKD 3 and was on statins, but had to stop due to leg muscle cramps. As my cholesterol was only borderline, the doc has taken me off statins for now, and will monitor my blood results. See how you go, if you get any side effects report them to your consultant.

I have been on statins for 7 years now . Even with having a cholesterol of 4 and being on dialysis now for 18 months still kept on them , think more as a safe guard

Hi I'm on statins and BP tabs as well as having a GFR of 18 and am a type 1 diabetic. been on the statins and BP tabs for a number of years, I was taken off them when my organs shut down a couple of years ago, but put back on them as apparently BP and chlorestrol have to be near perfect. Discussing with hospital kidney and pancreas transplant so I am trying to get everything perfect before I have the need to have dialysis. I have changed my diet which the consultant keeps saying there is no reason too, just keep off the salt, but at the end of the day it is my body, by organs and I am going to do what ever I can to remain as healthy as possible while I am still able too
