to give me the help I needed as I was doing the course and later the role for the union, are they correct or have they broken the 2005 disability act. Plus what is there now for me ?, I feel like I have more to offer but on the test it showed that I had a low IQ, I do have problems but surely I am more

READING, WRITING AND NUMBERS ARE NOT THE END OF THE WORLD, I BET YOU ARE GOOD AT TALKING TO OTHER PEOPLE AND UNDERSTAND THEM, ALSO DYSLEXICS ARE GOOD AT THINKING OUT SIDE THE BOX, AND VERY GOOD AT ART AND MEDIA. IF YOU ARE LIKE ME STORIES COME TO YOUR MIND "BUT" HARD TO PUT DOWN ON PAPER, SO RECORDED THEM THERE IS STILL LIFE OUT THERE!

hi videoman, when I was young my family was always trying to get me to read & write, I was more interested in drawing & painting, funny that I went into painting & decorating for profession . My cousin has been identified as dyslexic because he was writing his letters the wrong way round, my aunt & uncle said I WAS NOT DYSLEXIC JUST LAZEY & THICK.

Thanks for your reply

Take care

as ur employer they have to make sure ur disabilty is given what u need to do the job. u obviously do not have a low iq. id like to know what test they are using as dyslexics do very well on iq tests as its dont on problem solving for which wwe are brilliant lol. get the name of test they used to dssay u were low iq, take it to a specialist solcitor and get your work to pull their finger out

Hi, what my employer said was that as I was employed to paint that was job and I need not do a lot of reading to do my job and if I have a problem with something then my line management can help i.e read it to me, maybe thinking about I think they have broken the disability act 2005,

Take care

hi again, well they could actually be right then, if you are employed to paint, but if u are experiencing things where u feel u are being neglected or unable to cope note it down and take it to a specialist solicitor.good luck

WOULD THE WORLD STOP IF EVERYBODY COULD NOT READ OR WRITE "NO"

LOOK AT HUMAN HISTORY 10,000 YEARS AGO NO ONE COULD READ OR WRITE

2,000 YEARS AGO WE STARTED TO USE WRITING,

HOW DID WE MANAGE IN THE YEARS DETWEEN AND BEFORE.

WHY DO WE TALK WHEN WE COULD USE WORDS ON PAPER?

AND WHY DO WE HAVE MOBILE PHONES, TV AND MOVIES WHEN WE COULD USE THE WRITEN WORD

"WOULD THE WORLD STOP WITHOUT READING AND WRITING" ?

The world is so much more then, reading and writing. All people are different and if we was all the same then it be boring. But yours employer should be helping you get through this and not say is not their concern. Off course it should be as their should help you in the work place to over come yours week areas and forces on yours good area s. I have a good employers who have help me a lot and feel this have give my the confident to work in my industry. I do through feel that I behind same other people, but most of my fellows employees have never put me down. I feel that their have broken the disability act 2005 and I feel you need to get same help with where to go from their. Looked at gov.UK as their might have a number you can called and sameone to help you with what to do next.

I am not sure how these tests help people with dyslexia. You need to do them in school and uni to qualify for extra time in national, public exams, like GCE A level, degrees . Other than that they don't help you with reading difficulties in any way. You know you are dyslexic. So reading is a slow, often unpleasant business. You may be poor at spelling So what ! You are also likely to be creative, as intelligent as the next person, but able to think laterally, maybe have more highly developed skills of empathy with others. Think Einstein, Beethoven, Lord Sugar, Richard Branson, Bill Gates, loads of comedians etc etc.

Thanks for finding this and answering, what I have not said is that I have a Diploma in occupational health, this was my greatest crowning moment, I believe this would not have happened, if it was not for the backing I got from the Union, yes I believe that without their honest belief in me, it could not have happened, you see when I left school I had no qualifications in English or Maths.

So the thing is if you want something badly enough you can climb that Mountain.

But the best thing, I have found is be happy with what you have got, not what you don't have.

You are right .
