just wanted to to post and ask people about their experiences when they became sober. Did you lose friends? Family members? Work mates etc I feel moderation and sobriety sometimes changes our circumstances and social groups is definitely one of those!

I thing most people will appreciate the effort you take. You even dont have to tell them you have completely quit. We came up with extreme reasons when we drank, we can easily come up with something for not drinking that day. There were some obnoxious people early in my sobriety who would push a drink, to them, I had to break my anonymity and explain them about the disease of alcoholism. How certain people cant handle booze well. But my experience is, its our own mind that is the evil component.
I moved for work in my late twenties which helped enormously as I also stopped working in the drink industry. This stopped my worst excesses. I was however as SoberDrunk rightly says, still stuck with myself. The gradual creep from moderation to excess when the stressor strike. It does help to find a crowd with diverse interests gym, classes, walking, cupbof tea and a moan, live music, art exhibitions, spa whatever. It stops boredom creeping in.
