Cutting back

Well I didn't do dry January as I didn't believe I could, however after looking more into speeches and recently started reading The Good Drinker, as I don't particularly feel great, I'm 100% committed to really taking a step back from drinking, not stopping but just to enjoy 1 drink, and not "well may as well finish the bottle" . I'm currently feeling rather depressed, anxious and feeling the pinch in the pocket, but mainly depressed and not focused,

hi well i am sorry but dont think its possible for us that struggle to put the lid on the bottle i cant have one unless its a 1.7 unit bottle of ale but after trying that id rather have none, im on coffee and cocoa lol this week since sunday, i used to binge often self medicate when my life wasnt very good stress etc but im more in control now im in a better place mentaly, i have thought about drink this week today at shop i saw some but i never bought any, i can have half a bottle of wine if its one im not keen on,but then why have a drink i dont like so thats off the menu, i think we need to address why we want to drink even one And try resolve our problems, drinking yes can lift the mood temporarily but then it causes low mood and creates a vicious circle, theres is a site on here called anxiety and depresshion you may find helpful best of luck 🤗

So how many days have gone by just drinking one drink? If you cant address the malady you are talking about, your intake will go up. If you fall into the "problem drinker" category you may never drink safely again. Be honest and keep posting your progress.

If you can manage to have one drink, then give it a try. And keep trying. The only way to discover I’m powerless over alcohol was to keep trying to control it. If you can’t control it give it up. If you can’t give it up, seek treatment.

Well, Thursdays are normally an evening out for me and my partner as we are both divorced and its one day where we both enjoy a few drinks and a meal, we did go out and I only had the one pint, I feel great this morning and to be honest I do think now I probably didn't need that 1 drink, I have had 1 drink in a week and haven't missed it, I do feel good,
