Hi Golfbro! Yes, Alcohol, which metabolizes to sugar in your body can add quite a few calories to one’s diet. Alcohol can make your body continuously crave high carb food, especially empty carbs. Depending on how much you have been drinking, once you stop, there could be a transition period between craving high carbs to a healthy diet. There are weight loss communities in HU that you might find helpful. I don’t know how to give you a link to them and I’m not familiar with their names. Healthy Eating is one, but it’s not really for people who want to lose weight. If you go to the very bottom of this page, there are the names of all the communities available. You say you’re not feeling good about yourself. Is it because you want to stop drinking and can’t as well as needing to lose weight? If it is, this is a good place to start. In the other posts on here there are various links to helpful information about alcohol and others stories you might find insightful.😊
Thanks for your reply and support I’m new on here and will read other replies I’m drinking way to much and desperate to cut back but finding it a real struggle hopefully I can find something in here to help me do this .thanks for taking time to reply .
Hi and welcome that is where I would start, I joined November 2021 and everyone has been helpful we started dry January on the 4th and not had a drink yet, not sure what or how much you drink but as Isinatra says if you read back even to last year you will find very similar stories including myself and new people coming all the time asking for help.

I feel exactly the same way. I’ve started drinking a bottle of wine a night and I feel over weight. Today is my first drink (bottle of wine) free day. Fingers crossed my mood and motivation will improve!
Hi Emmmmmma hope you keep up your drink free days I’ve managed 3 so far and start to feel alittle better about myself I’ve done some exercises I hope to be drink free tomorrow. The weekend I’m hoping to cut back by half it never accrued to me I had a problem till I tried to stop . Keep positive any drop in units is a achievement good luck let me know how you get on I’ll keep you posted . K
