Once Upon a Time….

There was a little reindeer who always felt like she was different from others. Always nervous and worried. It was so hard for her to make friends and she wanted so much to be a part of. Then one day she found a special elixir that made her taller, smarter, funnier and her nose brighter than any other reindeer. She heard that someone needed a reindeer to lead and light a special mission. She knew she could do the job because the special elixir told her she could. The elixir was never wrong. Well, she got the job that started the next year, so she trained hard, but it was exhausting and she had to turn to the elixir more and more. And the more she did, the weaker she became. Her boss, who came to love her, noticed the difference in her. When he gently asked, “Why are you getting weaker not stronger, my sweet?” She told him about the elixir and her suspicions that the elixir might be the reason she’s weaker. He explained to her…..you have a great responsibility and the other reindeer depend on you to help them. They and I would be greatly saddened if you grow weaker and weaker. The elixir isn’t your friend anymore, we are. We will help you get stronger, but you have to leave the elixir behind. She did as her boss asked. She became stronger each day with his and the other reindeer’s help and her nose became even brighter. Oh, so much brighter. Each year after that, when she would be ready for that one special night, she would give thanks for the help she received from others and that she was finally and truly a part of and not apart, anymore.
