Please can some one give me reassurance that my dad will be ok.
Dad had a stroke last Thursday. This is his 2nd stoke (last one dec last year)
The stoke at first didn't seem bad. They said his left side was affected. But he could move his arms and draw his legs up.
Everyday he has gotten progressively worse. On Saturday he was unable use his arm or legs and he failed the swallowing test the doctors said it was either an extension of his stroke or another stoke
Day by day his speech has got worse and he had to have a feeding tube. the last two days i can no longer understand him. His speech is to low and and his sentences are broken like theres no power in his voice
On Monday they starting treating him for aspirated pneumonia. His chest sounds terrible
Yesterday his temperature was very high
And his heart rate was staying above 90 bpm so they are now monitoring him closely
Today was the worst day hes usually a light sleeper but on today's visit he wouldn't wake up i was there for 2 and half hours
The nurses say he's been like this all day
Last night they asked me. To agree to a Dnr
I refused but after reading about it all night and speaking to the family. I agreed today..
Has anyone been through anything similar. I just want him to come home.
The nurses and doctors don't tell much bar they are monitoring closely
There was talks of him going for surgery on his carotid arteries as they are both 70% blocked. But he's now not well enough
Can someone please reassure me he will be ok
