Worried about dad.

Hey everyone. so my dad had a stroke about 35hrs ago. he lost feeling in all of his right side. all feeling has come back but his right arm is still paralysed. He can't move it at all. he also has low level phnemonia.

Only 5 weeks ago he had an angiogram with stents put in. and 3 weeks before that.........

We travelled 7000 miles across America on a once in a lifetime holiday.

I can't understand how he has gone down hill so quickly in the space of 3 months.

He only retired in March he's 71 years old.

I hate seeing him this way. he's so Independant and stubborn. now he's saying everything's over.

I'm worried about him and what this all means. it's too much. he's also an uncontrolled diabetic with high cholesterol and had a femal bypass. A heat attack 15 years ago and also lymphoma. he's survived all this. but I worry he's giving up.

He's talking and even telling a joke or too. but soon slips back into a sort of depression xxx

Thank you so much for your reply. he does have a bit of incontinence also. which I could see the pained look in his face and it broke my heart. he's still in hospital I think the doctors want to do further test as the scans didn't show anything up. is this normal in stroke survivors. he was throwing up when they broght him in. which also scared me. I keep thinking what if know one got to him in time. alot of guilt for me as I should of been there luckily a neibour found him as he left his front door open. he was lay the for about 6 hours. cold and in the dark

Your right dobie. just struggling to stay upbeat. but I'm looking forward to see him later on this eve.

Thank you I feel a bit better knowing he might not be like this after a few weeks. fingers crossed, take care xx

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. How are you coping? I'm going through a similar situation now but my dad is unable to express his thoughts and feelings and I can't help but constantly worry. I miss the old him. It's crazy how life can flip upside down in a flash. How's your dads recovery? My dad has also lost movement in his right side. Is there any tips or certain exercises you find useful?

Xxx
