Hi, I never had any help at all, it was a case off "DIY" (no not B+Q)
As for the money it went in the "Fat Cats" back pockets !!!!
"Opps""
Did you ask for help ? More than once ?? ,I did get some, but had to be quite insistent about it.....
Not just the stroke association. My husband had a massive stroke and after 8 weeks in rehab, was dropped off home a week before christmas on Friday evening. He couldnt stand unaided, had no balance. His whole left side affected. We had NO assistance at all. On Monday morning at about 10 am we had a Occupational therapist turn up, along with the supervisor of Essex Care group about his personal care, and a carer!!!! I explained they were all three days late. I have cared for him single handed since. We eventually had contact from a social worker after about four months who was also supposed to come and help sort out care package. However, he apparently went to the wrong address and phoned to apologise why he hadnt turned up for our appointment. We havent heard from him since. We attended the Stroke Association Group several times and found ourselves on the outside of a closed group who were not forthcoming with any help or advice at all. We have taken his care and rehabilitation into our own hands and are getting on well. He is moving forward and is walking round the house with his stick now, and going to a specialist gym. The NHS has failed us consistently.
hi first time on here had stroke 4 years ago was found in my flat I believe 3 days after I passed out had 5 months in hospital was living in Berkshire at the time stroke care was excellent joined the local stroke club can not speak highly enough of the help I received from west Berkshire stroke club moved back home to cornwall about 5 months after leaving hospital the post stroke help down here is just about non existent but hey look on the Brightside and remember things could be worse
I expect that was due to the area you live in..
I had a stroke 2 years ago and after initial contact with the stoke association, due to having no way to fill in forms and I needed a new cooker, neither, help from the association or anyone.. I totally sympathise with you Charleana.
Where does the money go, it's outrageous.
