What dialysis are you on Sallyluu and are you at target weight

Hi sallyluu peritoneal dialysis may cause bloating, it's how the therapy works . Are you on a fluid limit per day ? I usually find by the end of the day before I go on the machine I feel a little bloated but once on the machine and the initial drain has come out the bloating is reduced . Just try stick to your daily fluid allowance , it's hard but if you go over you will defiantly feel bloated . Hope this helped :-)

PD does defiantly ! If I feel that uncomfortable during sleep it wakes me up and I drain about 300ml off because it does make me feel sick ! Note also that it will make you gain weight with the sugar content potentially the therapy can give you an extra 500 calories per day and if you are waiting for a transplant and your BMI is higher than 34 35 you will most prob be told you can't have your transplant until you've lost weight and that my friend is very very hard to do with renal failure as I'm experiencing now !

I haven't found dialysis to cause bloating. The fluid retention causes bloating and dialysis reduces it. If I go over my fluid allowance and am carrying extra fluid I do an extra half hour dialysis isolated at the start to help remove the extra fluid without my blood pressure dropping too far. Hope this helps.
