I'm due to be fitted with a catheter tomorrow at 1pm. Can I eat in the morning or not?

Good morning Catsheba, had my CAPD catheter fitted 13 months ago.

A simple and quick procedure, as with any procedure you are not supposed to eat some hours before and you will I am sure be given laxatives to take before you goes to hospital.

Normally you are home the same day, I was last on the list on the day and had a small amount of discomfort so the doctor kindly gave me a little pethadin so I had to have an overnight stay.

Didn't really feel like eating after, the procedure was straightforward and has transformed my life, hope all goes well

Mine was nothing for the day pervious to the op and you do take some fairly strong laxatives in the preceding 2 days - don't move far from a loo when you take moviprep :-)
