I recently got 2 gout attacks (1 per month). I am 28 and my BMI is 30. I don't excercise regularly. Need help in understanding food or lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of developing gout again. Kindly help.

What food do you eat for your three meals daily and what do you drink on daily basis?

Gout, uric acid crystals build up in joints that causes pain, this can be ant joint in the body!

You need to avoid food high in purine.

Some examples:

Foods to Avoid if You Have Gout

Beer and grain liquors (like vodka and whiskey)

Red meat, lamb, and pork.

Organ meats, such as liver, kidneys, and glandular meats like the thymus or pancreas (you may hear them called sweetbreads)

Seafood, especially shellfish like shrimp, lobster, mussels, anchovies, and sardines.

Height is 5'7, Weight 82 Kg, Waist 33. Breakfast I usually drink tea accompanied with biscuits or Toast. Lunch is mostly Pulses with Rice. Dinner is Wheat Chapati and pulses or Veggies. I eat Okra more often.

Have you talked to your doctor about the gout recurring? Sometimes, when a person isn't well, the blood sugars can go up and down. What has your blood sugars been before, during and after the gout both times?

My doc recommended me to get a uric acid test done. Ideally the range should be in 3.5-7.2 mg/dL, mine came as 8.8 and hence now taking Feburic 40 tablet daily post Dinner.

My concern is more on changing lifestyle and food habits which will help eliminate the problem.

Are you going for a follow up appointment in the next few weeks? What did the doctor say about the diet/food you will be starting?

Your gout issues is it in the big toes on both feet or just one foot?

Gout can bring pain in fingers as well?!!

Peas, beans, lentils, tofu as well as leafy and starchy greens. They don't raise uric acid levels and may even protect you from gout attacks.

"There are very few vegetables that gout sufferers should avoid since veggies tend to be low in purines. However, there are some vegetables — spinach, cauliflower, asparagus, beetroot, okra and mushrooms — that should be consumed in moderation."
