You should consult your doctor because as per his advice only you have been taking this medicine. He knows your other health conditions, your detailed Lab parameters such Hba1c, PP , your age,sex , weight / BMI, your current life style , food habits How long you have been suffering etc etc These are not known to us.

Needless to say that in case of type 2 diabetes, medication should be the last resort. When one can not control his blood sugar by diet , exercise & lifestyle change, then perhaps medication can be thought of and that to at a minimal dose of Metformin which is more than 50 years old drug.

This forum , we have lot of experts to advise you on Diet and exercise and indeed all of these people have been able to control their own blood sugar to a great extent by Diet , exercise and change in life style. We believe food is our medicine. Please do read a lot of very useful posts posted by our members.

Since you wanted to know about Teneva 20, it is Teneligliptiin, a DPP4 (Dipeptide Peptidase 4) inhibitor. It is also known as Gliptin and these are newer class of drugs. The other members are Vildagliptin, Sitagliptin, Saxagliotin, linagliptin etc etc.

Most of these Gliptins are not yet approved by USFDA and Europe except Sitagliptin.. Teneligliptiin is currently approved only in Japan, Korea, India, Argentina. Long term side effects if any are not yet established for Gliptin class of drugs.

Sir, you are 82, enjoy one life, you need to consult your doctor to get age related dosage on any medication. Use food as medicine.

Even at 64, you can use food as medicine.

Teniva 20 mg Tablet (brand name) Teneligliptin (generic name) is an antidiabetic medicine used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adult patients. Patients are advised to follow a strict diet and exercise regimen along with this medicine for the best possible effect. This medicine is not recommended for use in children.

If you reduce the dosage or stop the medicine, your blood sugar level will be increased.

Consult your doctor regarding dosage of the drug.

namaha has already provided good information. As such, your fasting number 82 is very good. However, it would be better to know other numbers, in particular HbA1c. If HbA1c is also low, you should talk to your Doctor about stopping the medications.

Meanwhile, you should focus on your diet. Carbohydrate impacts the blood sugar maximum and therefore you should reduce the carb intake in your diet particularly the processed foods and sugar. I cannot comment much because you have not provided enough information about your conditions.

Hi and welcome to the group.

Please call your doctor for a follow up appointment for this week and you can ask the doctor more questions relating to the new medication. Have you had any side effects or allergic reactions while taking it? You can let them know when you see them. Let us know what you find out.😀👍
