Most of the health agencies ( ADA in USA, NHS in the UK ) recommend a diet which is low in fat and high in carbohydrate. They do emphasise complex carbohydrate including starchy grains and vegetables. 60 -65 % of the daily energy requirement is derived from carbohydrate following the standard guidelines.

Below is the link for the diet recommended by NHS:

These recommendations are not helpful in controlling blood sugar efficiently for diabetics.

Low carb is very effective.

Indeed, low carb consumption is the key in keeping the blood sugar low.

Guide lines on diet, in UK may need addressing. I am not sure about USA!

WE all need a balance diet. LCHF diet system is still filtering through.

People who write books, doctors who do TV shows have done small research.

We need to dig deeper and understand what we need to eat for a healthy life.

Coconut powder we use it to make coconut milk for curry, not for making cakes!

Currently there are over 400,000 members in low carb programme run by diabetes.co.uk. According to last annual report, majority of them have benefited immensely.

Unfortunately the current dietary guidelines in most of the countries are based on the smallest research in history and that too was flawed. It was implemented in 1977 in US and in 1980 in the uk. Since then obesity, T2D and other metabolic disorder has been on the rise. This is the result of low fat/no fat food products which industry introduced in response to revised dietary guidelines.

I do not know what is coconut powder. You are perhaps referring to coconut flour. Coconut flours and flakes are used in making lot of preparations. Why is it wrong to use coconut in other than curry? In fact, coconut is used very widely in many of the sweet dishes.

Yes I agree -diabetics should avoid sweet dishes. No one suggesting otherwise.
