Diabetes can be controlled/managed by a proper regulated diet and exercise and Medicines prescribed by the Doctor..

1. Eat every two hours mini meals. Don't eat big meals. Take more green vegetables/salads.

2. Eat whole grain food/grains like ragi, wheat, jowar instead of refined grains like maida/ sooji/ white bread etc

3. Reduce foods with high GI Index like potato, white rice, banana, mango.

4. Avoid all forms of simple sugars like Colas, juices, sweets, cakes, biscuits, pizzas, noodles etc.

5. Eat daily fruits with low/medium GI index like apple, guava, mosambi, orange.

6. Eat lot of proteins like dals, sprouts, egg, chicken etc with every minimeal.

7. Drink lot of water. One glass every hour.

8. Do at least 30-45 mins of exercise everyday.

Hi,

I am able to lower my blood sugar consistantly - and significantly -using any one of 5 things:

1. 1 tbl apple cider vinegar (works with high carb + high fat meals)

2. Gentle digest (it's my cats chicory supplement). (Works best for high fat meals)

3. Atkins bar after any meal or an atkins meal (Works with both high carb and high fat meals)

4. 1-2 Drops NOW Peppermint Oil (for both high carb and high fat meals)

5. Source Naturals Holy Basil for cortisol levels raising blood sugar (for me this is only at night. So, taken at night, for through the night and to combat the dawn effect). You will know if you have high cortisol at night if you are tired after dinner, then find your energy returning before bedtime, and possibly making it hard to go to sleep. Holy Basil also calms me and helps me get to sleep.

All of these are very inexpensive, so experiment and see what works for you.

Ps. Using the 5 above, I no longer take any prescription medicines. (My sugar came down from 296 to about 1/2 of that - or better)

Also, I dId not change my diet or exercise and those things still worked great.

And, if you would drink an atkins vanilla milk shake, blended with about 12 frozen strawberries and 1 packet stevia (or Splenda) - this not only makes an excellent tasting, thick shake - it will also significantly lower your blood sugar - at any time of day or night.
