The linked article is very informative. Thank you @ cure.

It beats me when there is rock solid information out there like this, accessible to anyone with a computer, and referenced by myself and others, that, rather than read digest and discuss, they would rather look for the real reasons, like contaminated bananas. Either that or go looking for nonsense pills like ox gallstones (run that by me again?) homeopathy, acupuncture or the plethora of homegrown ayurvedic nonsense like BRG34.

Get with the program people; your future health depends on it!

MikePollard

You said.....

'It's because you as a populace , like us here in the west, have been subjected to the Standard American Diet (SAD; and it is!) '

Guess this implies...the homegrown ayurvedic nonsense was better..and was saving....

Now it is like once bitten is twice shy.....

Also there is one wise saying from one my good friend who is also member of this forum....he says....

Suggest you expand your horizons!

I may have confused my stance by introducing irony and sarcasm. However, my stance on unproven traditional 'medicine' which implies that the ancients had a better handle on things remains the same.

There are no Ayurvedic vaccines!

There are no Ayurvedic vaccines!

hmmm Dincharya....Prevention..... very deep and long subjects....

We are so lucky to have access to computer and internet...and our friend google.... to give us more understanding on subject.

However,broad horizons....open mind is perquisite.

@MikePollard ...There is no one cure for all...everything matters a little...without following Ayurveda or home remedies ...life is much more tough ...you can not call anything nonsense ...in Ayurveda people say ...everything is medicine ...food, thoughts, your words , your intentions, love , breathe, exercise...I don't know any better definition and broad meaning of medicine ...If you look at this philosophy of treatment...its really very vast

Remember whatever is documented on Internet world is far far more vast than that :) We can not install sensors in each and every corner of world to collect data :) :) ...The definition of science says : we observe something...we experiment to find the cause of the thing ...after experiments we derive results ...In ancient times too people did the same ...they observe...they experimented and then they declared the result...isn't the same we are doing right now in any other scientific experiment...difference is todays experiments are conducted in more organized manner and documented well ...but whatever knowledge is not documented and coming as inheritance from generation to generation is not "nonsense"...it does make sense in current scenario...as it works ...like acupuncture and yoga...if you don't do it correctly it will not work...but that doesn't mean it is nonsense :) ...we need patience to see the results ...as in the case of faith healing ...faith healing works for them you have the "Faith" to get healed ...and keep the same faith alive from within is the toughest job...not to get healed :) :)not everyone's cup of tea :)

cure There is documented evidence proving that inoculation for smallpox has been practiced in India for (at least) centuries before Edward Jenner "invented" the smallpox vaccine. Dharampal has cited some contemporary British sources for this in his book Indian Science and Technology in the Eighteenth Century .

I have desisted from expanding more, as neither is this appropriate forum for this topic, nor is the environment in this forum conducive for such debates/discussions(or any civilized debate for that matter).

As you know, our sages have dealt with the subject of विद्या and अविद्या in detail(in a different context). "विद्या ददाति विनयं". In the absence of विनय, विद्या is as good as अविद्या. Lack of विनय is all pervasive on this forum. :)

Dear @ MikePollard,

There is no history of any Ayurvedic medicine going off the shelf due to ban, for millenniums.

More than two thirds of PROVEN MODERN MEDICINES are banned & off the shelf due to UNDESIRABLE/DANGEROUS SIDE EFFECTS.

Then what sanctity the great scientific proving, which many people worship/praise, has got? I regret that the filthy words commonly used by some members do not come handy to me; othereise I would have preferred to append some of those here, NOT TO YOU BUT TO THE PROVING.

You are absolutely correct George, there is a woeful history of wretched medicines that are touted as miracle cures statins being the most egregious.

However, if I get a major infection that is life threatening I will turn to allopathic medicine such as antibiotics rather than placing my future in an ancient, unproven, ayurvedic remedy that is out there purely to make money.

@ MikePollard,

It appears that many of your people are not as knowledgeable as you are; that must be the reason for some of their visit to India and undergoing those treatments.

In my humble opinion it will be a good idea to edify those who are not Indians, on the above things like Indian system of medicine. It is not wretched.

MikePollard ...Do you know about Liv 52 ...its world famous ayurvedic medicine for curing problems with Liver ?

Turmeric is world famous remedy for inflammation...there are countless remedies which are gifted to world by Ayurvedic research...I think...you may be using many of them if needed but not aware of that those are actually the research of Ayurveda :) ...Smiling reply is my style of writing ...don't take it otherwise :) You can also use smileys in reply...these are not my patented ones :)

The main thing get from this...

Faith!

If you cannot provide the science then that is what you are placing your future in. You might as well keep your fingers crossed or pray to your particular deity.

By the way, I'm never offended by opinions that differ from my own, so there's no need for smiley faces😉

:)...I wanted to convey " whatever is documented on Internet world is far far more vast than that :) We can not install sensors in each and every corner of world to collect data :) :) "

and you picked what you wanted to pick :)

the experiments which are well documented doesn't mean that's what is existed or is science ...the science which I am talking is not well documented...Can you explain from where the gravitational force comes which causes the earth, so all of us to revolve around sun...so is the same force causes the electron to revolve around nucleolus...Do you have some data which can provide the source of this force...all our existence dependent on this force ...let the science explain that...let the science explain how one feel sad, angry, loved, hated or "Faith" ...Even I have all the data available regarding these emotions...I can not program a machine...which mimics the same kind of emotion...its all non-linear...there are infinite hidden variables...which science can not explain even after 100 years...We can not install sensors for everything :) :)

Its very boring...Lets leave it here :)

wish you should visit 'Kumbhmela' some day.....to witness how different faiths ...different thoughts...different way of life coexists....

Paths may differ ..but objective is same....

there is nothing such as your Deity and my God....it is all same.....

Ayurveda truly believes

अमंत्रमक्षरं नास्ति नास्ति मूलमनौषधम् ।

अयोग्यः पुरुषो नास्ति योजकस्तत्र दुर्लभः॥

means:

There is not a syllable which is not a spell; there is not a plant that is not a medicine; there is no person who is useless... only, the enabler is hard to find!

There is nothing in this world which is 'Nonsense'...it is just lack of understanding of a person.
