It is misconception that one can eat anything when one is taking diabetic medicines. You should first stop eating rice and restrict carbs. Then with the help of home glucose monitoring you can make changes in medicines.

What are your BS levels and daily meals? Which medicines do you take?

The quantity is equally important as it tastes good and temptation to consume more, very generally Basumati has slightly lesser impact on raise in blood sugar, to my experience.

Diabetics should not have rice if they wish to cut down on their medicines.
