Medicines will work well only when you approach diabetes management in a comprehensive manner i.e.diet control, regular exercise, stress free life style and medication.Any one of these alone may not work.I am giving some general suggestions here with a hope that you will find them useful.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder which is a result of the pancreatic gland in

our body either produces little or no insulin or the body has developed resistance to insulin. In both cases, the body cells do not receive the glucose needed for production of energy because insulin is essential for glucose to enter the cells. This results in the blood sugar levels to increase beyond acceptable levels, though your body cells are starved for glucose. This condition is very bad for our well being and over long term may result in severe complications.

Controlling blood sugar levels is a tough job but it is not impossible if you realize that everything is in your own hands. This is so,because though you may get good advise from doctors and dieticians,it is ultimately Y O U that will have to take all the necessary steps to successfully control diabetes.

Diet plays a very important role in managing diabetes. You should reduce intake of foods that are rich in carbohydrates like sweets, rice, wheat, other grains ,potato, beet and other root vegetables rich in starch. You should eat more of vegetables, sprouts, greens and salads that give you lot of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Each meal you take should be smaller but you may have 5 or 6 meals instead 3 meals a day.

Exercise is very important to control diabetes. Daily brisk walking or jogging for at least 40 to 60 minutes is ideal. Such exercise will consume lots of energy and sugar levels come down accordingly.

Mental stress aggravates diabetes. Lead a stress free life by adopting relaxation techniques like music meditation, yoga and breathing exercises.

Consult a diabetologist and get prescribed for medication if necessary and comply with the doctor's advise scrupulously.

Please remember that the most important person in managing your diabetes is Y O U.

For me, diet control alone does the trick. Of course, others may need to exercise a lot and keep taking drugs. LCHF rules !!

Try with possible sweating exercises & exertions & find the change !!!

pl give me a lchf diet .chart

100% agree with Concerned. No amount of sweating and exertion will help diabetics who gorge themselves on rice, wheat (rotis, naans, chappatis, etc), potatoes and sweets.

Btw, medfree, I have just begun taking 1 tablet of Metformin 500 mg sr at night for my NP or LD. Is that adequate or should I raise the dose ? How long before I see my BS falling ? 15 days/ 30 days/45 days or longer ?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

No confusion, understood perfectly, thanks.

My breakfast consists of a boiled egg, {2 teaspoons of flax seeds, 1 teaspoon of sunflower seeds, 1/2 teaspoon of cinammon powder, about 8 teaspoons of pomegranite seeds, all mixed together}, 1/4 of a big apple, 1/2 of a big guava, pieces of fig/melon, walnuts/almonds, home made curd + green tea with a spoon of organic cold pressed coconut oil. Some Amul cheese. That's it. Is this OK ?

Good. How you take sunflower seeds grounded like flax seeds. 8 tsp pomegranate seeds ? it is too costly,

in reply toranj

@ranj : Flax seeds are ground. Sunflower seeds are whole. Pomegranate seeds cost max Rs.25/- per breakfast, when not in season, cheaper otherwise.

type2: Whether sunflower seeds outer shell are spitted out or take with shell.

in reply toranj

ranj: Sunflower seeds can be eaten with the shell & without the shell. I eat them without the shell. I buy them without the shell itself. No "janjat" in removing the shell :-)

Thanks for the dope on "coumarin". I have cinammon sparingly & only for breakfast. When I am away from home, I mix cinammon with either green tea or black coffee. Thanks again. Best regards.

Thanks for informing about courmarin. I was also taking cinnamon powder. There are always doubt of whether it is authentic or duplicate cinnamon.
