I have already written a number of blogs about the ill effects of ALL the artificial sweeteners.

This is just to add to that info that .....

Stevia is easily available in India through PROCARVIT from procarvit.com.

I got my supply with in 36 hours by courier. They claim 1gm equal to two spoonful of sugar. I understood this the hard way. My first coffee with stevia was VERY sweet. We need only quarter of spoonful for one cup of coffee or tea.

The above is only for info for those who want to get the product

Stevia powder and pills are available now. Very shortly it may be available in liquid form....

Yes, you may be right, But I did not find ,when used moderately, a change in the sugar taste. Looks OK for preparing coconut 'SWEETS'... Back to eating sweets.... Good days are BACK again

Do I take it that you are using stevia on a regular basis?

Oh.No!.

What started with learning pros and cons of various artificial sweeteners right from saccharine, aspartame, to sucralose I was searching in literature for an acceptable sweetener. Mentions were being made of stevia in various other diabetes forums . Meanwhile I cut down sugar and replaced sugar with pure glucose for about 2 months. Till that time I was consuming three cups of coffee / day.( so three spoons of table sugar). No other sweets, no energy drinks,no fruit juices. Now I have cut down coffee to two. Very shortly I will replace one with milk + turmeric. That leaves one. That I will take with stevia now on wards. Recently i saw my sister taking a product based on aspartame. I have now sent her a packet of stevia.

I am/was very fond of coffee. From 5 cups a few years back I have come to one....(I have to have some mercies....)

Thank you. I noticed you plan to replace One? with milk and turmeric. What does that mean? I have turmeric in my fridge. Is that hope? Just asking. Diane

Try the grass tea, which grows abundantly in India even in pots. I use few strands of these when boiling tea leaves and after the tea/coffee is brewed add required quantity of milk and boil for just 2 minutes. This tastes good even without any sweetener. I am sure everyone will love its taste. Then there is no need of any type of sweeteners.

The harmful effects of artificial sweeteners are well known.

Stevia is from a natural source and is not a made chemical. While all the artificial sweeteners have shown adverse effects with in decade of its use, stevia in some groups of people is being used for the last 1500 years .

So, the confidence level on this is more among all the users and researchers.

A word of caution however is that it is better to be moderate in use of this . But it is better to be moderate in many food items, Is'nt it?

I was so far not using any sweetener ( last 6-7 years). I have started using stevia now only...
