The question is wrong. It should have been what is the acceptable glycemic levels that a diabetes should maintain. The answers is any levels between 110 and 80 in fasting between 10 pm till morning sampling and any levels between 120 and 130 mg per decilitre. 2 hours after meals..

Okay. Thanks for replying and correcting me. Actually I have recently been diagnosed with more than normal level of blood sugar. In this context I asked my question to understand as to up to what level one can still try to control sugar without medicine (with exercise and diet control) and after what level medicine is a must. I understand this may again may not be the right way to phrase my query but hope it is understandable.

On your part, you practice controlling diet, exercising regularly and a disciplined life style.Keep monitoring at home and go for quarterly review with a diabetologist. After testing you for FBS,PPBS and HBa1c,the doctor will decide whether you need medication.Important point is to gather as much knowledge as possible about diabetes. Then you will get all the answers yourself.
