I am a diabetic patient for the last 8yrs. i am taking tab Janumet twice a day .will it harm my kidneys in the long run?

The secret of gliptins are that they will control your diabetes at the beginning , say up to 8 weeks. After that they are not effective.Research is going on on the adverse effects of Gliptins.
