My hubby has been diabetic for over 10 years. He was put on Metformin, but had trouble initially with diarrhoea and bleeding from his back passage. He was advised that it was to do with the bulking agents used to make the meds and after a few months of trying different brands he found glucophage xr worked for him without upsetting his tummy. 10 years later these symptoms have started again. He stopped taking it for a week and the symptoms stopped. Within 24 hours of taking them again they have started. Our pharmacist has retired and the young man that has taken over is adamant that it is not the meds causing it. We wondered if anyone has had similar problems with a med taken long term. We have a gp appointment next week to discuss it and the awful attitude of the pharmacist!

Definitely get a new pharmacist; nobody should have to tolerate such an ugly attitude, no matter what his feelings are about the medication, he isn't your husband's gp, which means that he doesn't have the authority to make decisions about your husband's medical care. nI like your username; I'm so tired of feeling tired; well, fatigued often
